With high uncertainty in the world today – Brexit, the US-China trade war, protests in Hong Kong and Thailand, wildfires (Australia, Amazon rain forest, American West), a global pandemic, the most severe global recession since the Great Depression, and social justice movements – companies have to be more agile and adaptive to function and continue to move forward. In order for companies to address the ongoing changes happening today, companies have to build a culture that can not only withstand the headwinds of change, but adapt to the changes at a much faster pace than before. It is no longer sufficient for a company to sit back and wait for the dust to settle before changing strategy. Companies and leaders have to move now. Moving fast, failing fast, changing is all about a company’s culture. Therefore, culture is the future of work.
Culture is defined many ways but here are a couple: “how we do things around here” or “shared set of values, principles, assumptions, beliefs, symbols, and behaviors that reflect how an organization functions.” Companies requiring change in today’s VUCA environment will struggle to gain traction if their culture is not ready for it. A whitepaper by Deloitte on the Future of Work Research Study cites that over two thirds of C-level executives surveyed state that culture has a critically important impact on their organization’s ability to realize its mission and vision. The same paper shares that organizations have to pay attention to culture; help ensure leaders actively participate in its development and dissemination.
This talk will focus on Amazon’s peculiar culture and how we constantly strive to be the earth’s most customer centric company. Our culture is extremely important to achieving this big mission

As the world adjusts to new WFH (work from home) arrangements, companies are being forced to re-evaluate the way they evaluate and appraise employees. This is further strained by new economic realities affecting company resources, requiring new approaches to performance & rewards management.
This session aims to answer the following questions:
How has the health & economic crisis affected promotion, bonuses, merit increases and other performance management strategies? How have WFH arrangements impacted the way we appraise employees?
With the proliferation of fake news, deep fakes, identify theft, data piracy and the Dark Net, disinformation has been normalized. This poses a serious threat to all organizations that require a society founded on decency, integrity, ethics and trust. It also increases the difficulty of HR’s role in validating information and building a culture of trust.
